Acartia tonsa (copepod)

Location: Narragansett Bay, Rhode Island, 5/28/03

ID Notes: The details of the ursosme, especially the spination on the caudal rami are useful to distinguish A. tonsa from A hudsonica. Also note the lateral bulges just behind the antennae.
Notes: Acartia tonsa is usually the most abundant copepod in warm coastal and estuarine waters.
