Collected 5 km offshore from Chincoteague, VA. Depths of 5-7 meters. Caught using an epibenthic sled (365 micrometer mesh). Summer 2005.
Notes: While regularly found in summer collections over sandy bottoms, these cumaceans were seldom abundant.
Cumaceans, along with the related mysids, isopods, and amphipods, brood their young in a ventral brood pouch. They emerge as miniature adults.

Leucon posterior lacks the median telson seen in Oxyurostulis.
