Carcinus maenas (green shore crab) megalopa
Location: 5 km offshore from Chincoteague, VA. Depths of 5-7 meters. Caught using an epibenthic sled (365 micrometer mesh). Summer 2005
Notes: A rare catch in this location in June.
ID Note: The pointed rostrum is similar to the rostrum of the blue crab (Callinectes), but Carcinus lacks the lateral projections off of the ventral side of the carapace.
