Uca pugilator (zoea)

Uca pugilator (zoea)

Location: North Inlet, SC. Late: Summer 2005

Notes: This Uca pugilator zoea was released by a gravid female maintained in the laboratory

ID notes. Zoeae of many other fiddler crabs in the genus Uca  are common. They are difficult to distinguish.

Zoeae of the marsh crabs Armases and Sesarma are similar to Uca. They are less common in our collections. Uca zoeae are more commonly seen with the abdomen bent upward than most other crab zoeae
