Silver Perch larva (Bairdiella chrysoura)
Collected: June 2006-2009, 5 km off of Assateague Is. Virginia just above the bottom in 8-9 m depths using an epibenthic sled (365 micrometer mesh).
Notes: There are many similar larvae in the drum family (Sciaenidae) common in the nearshore plankton. They are easier to identify to species when they are older.
The Silver perch was by far the most common drum larva caught in these collections
