Collected: 1 km off of Assateague Island, VA. Epibenthic sled with 365 micrometer mesh.
Notes: Athough not readily visible, there is a sucker at each end of this specimen.
Both free-living and parasitic leeches are occasionally collected in the plankton. This one was caught in a sample where the mysid Neomysis americana was especially numerous and thus may be Mysidobdella borealis, a leech often found on mysids.
Collected by Bill Johnson, Goucher College, Towson, MD .
